YPA change of picture
by dozy inanybody got any idea why the cover picture on the young people ask book was changed?
they removed the picture of the boy bottom right & superimposed a different head.
maybe the guy got dfd or maybe it was to change it to an asian guy rather than 2 caucasians?

The First Young People Ask VHS
by Cimarrona indo y'all remember the young people ask tape that came out in the late 90s about "bad association"?
i was a fairly small child with teenage siblings and watched it often (with family and alone cause i thought it was the inside scoop on older kids).
that was back when worldly was still very much so a part of dubspeak (i think they started encouraging people to stop saying it in the mid to late 2000s).

I would watch that vhs tape as a child a lot, definitely brings back A LOT of memories. I saw it recently through an account on YouTube called WatchtowerReviewz and in his videos he pokes fun at these movies that the Society makes.

Blade Runner - the new movie
by days of future passed ini went to see blade runner 2 because i liked the first one.
even tho the first one was i think rated r, i still saw it.
the whole atmosphere of the first one was bizarre and real to itself.. if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read on.. with high hopes, despite hearing that it tanked at the box office (are the critics crazy?

I saw the movie and I thought it was aesthetically beautiful but I did feel lost while watching it, I hadn’t seen the first once so I didn’t really know the significance of Sean Young’s character and all that. I plan on seeing the first one and then watching 2049 again. Definitely loved the film score and the outfits, the feel and look of the movie, just a little lost from not being able to connect the first one with this one

If WT are cutting back on mags will they also cut back on Bethelites?
by truthseeker ini was thinking after hearing about the agm cutbacks to the mags and other website content surely they will end up dismissing more bethelites?
i would have thought in the old days, before the web, an artist or writer at bethel would have been a full time job making content for four 32 page mags a month.
now what are these guys going to do?.

There definitely could be a huge cutback for bethelites especially for those in the art department and maybe even the writing committee. Apparently the information is going to be recycled after a couple of years and just be updated after they’ve been released already. But really there isn’t a need anymore for an art department

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

Very hard as a born in and I say this as a PIMO

Jehovah's Witnesses and The Empire (Star Wars)
by neat blue dog ini've been reading some of the latest star wars novels that take place around the movies and i can't help but be struck with how the empire reminds me of jws.
(i know it's typical of many high control groups, etc.
but it's close to home.

Star Wars has so many parallels to being a JW or high control group. Like the Jedi Council being the GB or body of elders and Anakin wanting to be a member of either and doesn’t become one because he isn’t “spiritual” enough so he gets disfellowshipped and turns to the dark side.
Those parallels you mentioned sound really spot on

2017 Annual Meeting
by Jules Saturn inthis just in from the 2017 annual meeting:.
1. watchtowers and awakes won't be released regularly, at least three watchtower and awakes per year.
6 magazines a year.. 2. a new book is being released: remain in god's love, more of an update like how they did for the what does the bible really teach book.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if them saying there will be a change in the ministry, basically saying that Matt 24:14 has been fulfilled will trigger membership to grow for people who have already left. Maybe in an effort to instill fear in the hearts of those that have left, to insinuate that because the preaching work is fulfilled or almost over, that the Great Tribulation and Armageddon will commence soon.
